I’m way late in keeping up with this series but that Howling Star is one of the most m-effing ugly giant whatever mecha thing anyone had to operate. Amadeus looks like a deformed toad pit bull…seriously, did they ask design challenged people to come up with this stuff? I love how Jin states the obvious “No way, they’re piloting the dragons!”. No shit sherlock. Be smarter or you don’t deserve to be the protagonist. Also, way to be a coward - cowering away from the thing that saved you like 8 times is a real hero. Then, the other coward Kazuki’s going to hold a grudge against Jin for stealing his dragon. Bitches are going to have a fight about THAT one.

Toa is leaving because you’re an untrustworthy SOB, duh. Also, it’s not as if you guys could have been together anyway even if you hadn’t known about her dragon-ness. Dragons and humans cannot be together. I’m sorry but no matter how much GONZO inserts Toa trying to make out with Jin while holding him randomly in the sky, it just doesn’t click. Seriously, Jin is one of the most selfish and ungrateful bastards I’ve ever come across in anime. If someone saves you CONTINUALLY and leaves you BECAUSE A). you looked when they told you not to and B). you cowered away when they tried to communicate with you then there’s a REASON that they do not want to be with you.

Character rantings aside, the scene where the dragons were fighting each other was a mess. Reminds me of Kissdum where no one knows who’s hiting whom (what even). Raina’s (what kind of nancy name is that???) Howling Star is probably based on one of those dinosaurs with the tiny forearms which may have been evolutionarily viable back then but it looks dumb as a dragon mecha in an anime where everything else is already incredibly stupid. The CGI is incredibly bad, the dragons have no detail - they’re just smooth blocks of colour with a glowing eye in a black, red or whatever mass of what’s supposed to be the head. It seems as if most of the action will be comprised of really badly coordinated and “animated” dragons fighting so for just that alone, I think I’m going to drop this show. Obviously the storyline isn’t going to be a redeeming factor and as of now I can think of anything else that might help the show. Gio just reminds me of Haji from Blood+, the dark silent protector who by now I don’t care about because Jin is just going to whine about Toa being with him. Kazuki is going to whine about Jin and Gio and everything else. That scientist lady is going to whine about not being able to mutilate her desire of “albums”. Everyone else is going to have one of those emo moments, either by screaming someone’s name while kneeling on the ground (preferably in the rain or in an apocalyptic downfall moment) or have whiny stating the obvious bitch fests where it’s obvious that they’re the ones who are stupid.

I’m trying to figure out how the hell Gonzo came up with this show and actually were OK with animating it the way they are. The bottom line is, as someone in the show said “this sucks”.
