Meet Abel Nightroad, this everyday Vatican priest is anything but ordinary. He is poor, kind of a cutie and a Krusnik, a vampire that lives off on the blood of other vampires. How does that saying go, “looks can be deceiving”? Who would have thought that this priest works for a secret holy organization called the AX?

While on-board the airship, the Tristan, Father Abel Nightroad gets involved in a deadly hijacking in episode 1 by a vampire acquainted with the order of Fleurs de Mal. In episode 2, Nightroad is investigating and along the way, he finds a young girl with strange abilities. As Nightroad journeys to a village called Istvan in episode 3, he encounters another vampire with his own visions on how the world should be as well as a sister with an unusual birthmark. And in episode 4, a plot of the mysterious Rosen Kreuz is revealed… or is it? Who is this order called the Rosen Kreuz?

128-trinity_blood_ep_02_002.jpgJam-packed with action, some hilarity, and amazingly beautiful animation, Trinity Blood has everything a girl (or boy) could want… that is, if the girl (or boy) in question has this maddeningly weird fetish that involves vampires *blushes* and explosions! And the OST is delicious… eargasmic even ^_^

Trinity Blood is a series of Japanese novels written by the late Sunao Yoshida. It takes place some time in the future, about 500 years after an apocalyptic war between all of the nations, which almost destroys all of humanity. In this futuristic world, the Roman Catholic Church has become a major military power. Their goals include the protection of humanity against the vampiric Methuselahs, who apparently have been waging war upon the “Terrans”. The Vatican is the seat of power for the Church whereas the capital of Byzantium is where the majority of the Methuselahs population reside.

I think that the first chapter sets up the story quite nicely. It introduces characters as well as storylines in a steady manner. I didn’t feel at all overwhelmed as I had felt with other anime that I’ve previously watched. And the character relationships are quite evident; you can tell whose relationship is deeper than others… like the relationship between Sister Noelle-san and Father Nightroad-san. I was quite impressed with the animation as well; though, there was some three-dimensional stuff that I didn’t particularly paid attention to (Fate Stay Night had the same thing… I think). But, it was the dialogue, the storyline, and the characters’ relationships with each other that really won me over. A close-knit relationship between the AX members is evident… even before I found out what this AX group was!

So far, I have to say, as far as characters go, the character of Sister Esther is a bit useless, but I’m going to bet she’s going to be one of the key players pretty soon. And I can’t really tell if Nightroad is schizophrenic or not… his personality is so varied: and when he’s in human mode, he’s hilarious; when he’s in his Krusnik form, he’s quite serious. And out of all the AX members, Gunslinger is the only one without long hair… on second thought, I think he and the Pope are the only ones with short hair. Other things that did bother me, though, was the fact that Pope is a whiny, pushover of a seventeen year old! I was like, “wth?!” Overall, I’m enjoying this show quite well ^_^

Anyways, ten out of ten Pocky sticks!
