Gun x Sword - aka Giant Mecha Harem Fun

Alex Papillon (June 24, 2007)   8 Comments

Criticized for being a lot like Cowboy Bebop+Trigun - is it really just a clone with lots of mixed elements? Not exactly; it doesn’t have a nouveau edge by far but it’s pretty entertaining. In fact, even though I watched it a year ago I still remember most of the characters and episodes. […]

Monster Anime Series Review

Darren Pangan (June 23, 2007)   14 Comments

The story of this anime and manga was written by Naoki Urasawa. The anime was originally aired from April 27, 2004 to September 28, 2005. I got myself a copy of the whole TV series simply out of curiosity. I hear the title get mentioned a lot whenever someone’s asking for some recommendations for an anime series that has great story in anime forums.

Gilgamesh: The not-quite-epic version

Milly Schaefer (June 18, 2007)   7 Comments

Gilgamesh is a strange beast, with many promising moments as well as characters. Unfortunately, the characters I found interesting were cast to the side, and the plot moved very slowly until the final episode, where everything was thrown into disarray for a rushed conclusion.

Trinity Blood Chapter I Review

Meet Abel Nightroad, this everyday Vatican priest is anything but ordinary. He is poor, kind of a cutie and a Krusnik, a vampire that lives off on the blood of other vampires. How does that saying go, “looks can be deceiving”? Who would have thought that this priest works for a secret holy organization called the AX?

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Vol. 3

Alex Papillon (June 3, 2007)   No Comments

GitS continues being more intellectually stimulating as more of the complex episodes kick in. The animation continues to be great (unlike some that sort of wax and wane) and I like the music even more. It’s not annoying like some series, where the token music for whatever kind of sequence starts in and you just know what’s going to happen.

A meme is basically a unit of culture (such as an idea, practice or theory) that is transmitted from one mind to another like the way a gene transfers its information.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Vol. 1

Alex Papillon (May 21, 2007)   2 Comments

Most people have probably heard of the movie Ghost in the Shell, which was hyped for its thought-provoking philosophical approach to human identity and existence in a time where those may be compromised by the union of cyber technology and human minds and for its masterful mix of cel and computer animation. Based on the manga by Masamune Shirow, this 26 episode anime series continues with the characters that were present in the movie.

Basilisk: “To the one I love, prepare to die”

Never did I think that Basilisk: the Kouga Ninja Scrolls to be such a bloody good time. There’s blood and guts with a dash of love on the side! It’s the classic question: will love conquer all -even hatred- in the end?
