The Mx0 (MxZero) is an Action, Comedy, Romantic, Fantasy and a Shounen type manga. It has the usual high school boy meets high school girl and falling in love story line but with a crazy twist of magic and comedy.
This manga follows the not so typical delinquent student who failed on the entrance interview and believed it was caused by a certain girl. He breaks into the school to see her again just to find out that it was a magic school. The twist of events starts when he was caught by a teacher, which by coincidence was the father of the girl he was looking for. He ended up transferring as a new student and the only one without magic in a school flooded with magic users.
The story is not so surprising for a shounen manga. This would have been an average romance – comedy if it was not for all the supernatural elements. It was set up very well and there are a bunch of mini arcs focusing on a particular story in between the usual high school antics.
The characters match those of the typical personalities that can be found in an average school comedy. It is not totally a distressing thing because you got to see them level up. The male protagonist has the classic delinquent attitude. Still, it gives a great feeling of victory every time he comes out on top after going through hell. What is more surprising is his intuitive thinking and never forgetting to make that witty comment.
The artwork has a great quality. This manga having decently drawn backgrounds and environments and the character designs are brilliant and to some extent is very imaginative. The artwork gets pretty messy however, when things starts get very action oriented, which makes the situation a bit hard to follow.
This manga in general is a hilarious and highly enjoyable action – romance – comedy with an amazing diverse supernatural side to it. It has a lot of consideration placed into the magic system. It has an amazing story because it is set out in a way that the reader is taken on a ride and will never stop rooting for the main character. This type of manga on the other hand, has been done already but if you do not mind, you sure will enjoy lots of magical fun. This manga is indeed worthy of an animated adaptation.

May 16th, 2008 at 1:09 amWell, Mx0 has become one of my faves since the scanlation first comes. Too bad the manga is going to be forcefully ended soon for the lack of readers in Japan, though

June 2nd, 2008 at 1:22 pmOverall, it was a pretty enjoyable manga. Although, the ending was completely rushed and came outa nowhere. They should have at least aimed for the 100th chapter mark lol.

June 27th, 2008 at 12:25 amI agree that this manga would be a hit if it will have a animation adaptation and personally I was disappointed (who isn’t). This manga has so much potential but it end up just like that. Though its a good thing that it has an open ending, maybe just maybe (wishful tinking) there would be another book or a continuation.

July 26th, 2008 at 1:25 pmI also agree that this manga was awsome but 2 bad that that it ended like this….i hope that they would atleast give it a desent ending not just for us but for the manga it self…..it would be awsome if they at lest make a season 2 like Mx0-2 or Mx0 Kuzumi’s return…some thing like that…hehe
