A Review on Seirei no Moribito
Darren Pangan March 21, 2008
Seirei no Moribito is a story that follows a female warrior as she protects a young prince against a number of antagonists. The first few episodes suggests that it is an action anime, yet in the succeeding episodes, it changed to a slice – of – life approach then a bit of drama and adventure. It also can not be categorized as a drama due to some episodes has light – hearted moments and some episodes are adventure filled. This anime is adopted from a novel making it a degree higher than usual animes.
One of the factors that made this anime successful is the vast amount of details that were incorporated. A truly gorgeous and detailed animation with characters are moving more than necessary, footprints on rough terrain and realistic movements from random by – passers. The fight scenes are also detailed down to the smallest movement, without shortcuts!
Each character in the anime exhibits no flatness at all. Almost all of them have complicated motives which are indescribable in just a few lines. It has a quiet realistic development that can feel sympathy for them as the series nears the end.
The plot of the series favors realism over sensation. It does not create the worst case scenario ending. The storyline do not have excessive amounts of forced drama and plot twists. This makes the storyline incredibly solid. The progress is relatively slow which gives enough time to bring out the plot and characters to a magnificent degree, and finishes with a finale that does not feel rushed.
This anime series has a very high production value with a very minimal use of flash backs. The animation was constantly high throughout the series. It contains no fan service or what so ever. Though it is difficult to deny that some fan service could entice people to watch an anime, there is no place for overt fan service for Seirei no Moribito which brings a sense of professionalism.
The soundtrack used for this anime is one of its strong points. It has extremely exciting battle themes and well matched songs for every scene that can move you to the brink of tears. The opening theme appropriately conveys the mood and pace of the series. The ending theme is quite slow yet inspiring.
The series weaves a very entertaining story and supported with a great cast of characters. It is also very exquisite to watch and listen to

beautiful animation and just about everything else
