Claymore Intimate Persona~Character Song Shuu~
Amanda Liu October 5, 2007
In this CD, there are 10 tracks and the characters featured Clare, Priscilla, Galatea, Deneve, Opheilia, Irene, Sophia, Teresa, Helen, and Miria (in that order). For people who don’t know what the hell is a “character song” it’s basically a song where the seiyuu for an anime sings a song that’s supposed to reflect the character. Anyways, the character song CD for Claymore got leaked today was leaked a couple of days ago but because we had server problems once again, this article was delayed.
1. Kioku
Artist: Houko Kuwashima
Character: Clare
This sounds like an Ayu ballad. Seriously with the rockish part that comes in the chorus and the style…AYU-SAMA. The only part that didn’t sound Ayu-ish is with that random dude rapping in Engrish in the middle XD. Seriously, is that supposed to be Raki or something? LAWL. Well anyways, Houko Kuwashima has a pretty voice and the song is pretty good. But I love most of Ayu’s ballads so I may be biased.
2. Henbou
Seiyuu: Aya Hisakawa
Character: Priscilla
Well Miss-I’m-an-Insane-Bi0tch’s song is appropriately off-kilter and creepy. With Hisakawa’s creepy loli voice and good use of instrumentals this makes this song pretty memorable. And unlike Clare’s song, you can actually picture Priscilla singing this.
3. Hangyaku
Seiyuu: Ai Orikasa
Character: Galatea
“Turn it up ready? ” “Turn it up now?” “REVOLUTION?” Wow. Major Engrish rapping for Miss Claymore in the beginning and ends of this song XD. I actually don’t like this song because it’s a dull ballad that doesn’t really suit Galatea in my opinion. I would perfer her with a more rockish song. Oh and who is this Engrish rapper? Why the hell is an Engrish rapper in Claymore anyways?
4. Kakusei
Seiyuu: Hana Takeda
Character: Deneve
WOW. This is actually turned out and I don’t even really like Deneve. It’s somewhat rockish with enough exotic instruments to fit the true Claymore feel (no Engirsh rapppers). Well there is Engrish but it actually fits Deneve. The whole song does. I really like this song. Not to mention Takeda Hana has one of the better singing voices on this album.
5. Zouo
Seiyuu: Emi Shinohara
Character: Opheilia
Another good eceletic pop-rock track. I’m suprised at the use of background series. It’s a very unique song that suits the eccentric and bi0tchy personality of everyone’s-favorite-insanely-bloodlusted-bi0tch. I like this song.
6. Shippu
Seiyuu: Minami Takayama
Character: Irene
This is much rockier than the other two. I kinda expected a more calmer song for Irene but apparently whoever produced this disagrees. I really like this song. It’s refreshing. There’s a bit of Engrish it’s not out-of-place like the crap in the beginning. The bridge is a little weird but the electric guitar is awesome.
7. Eien
Seiyuu: Megumi Toyaguchi*
Character: Sophia*
First of all, I don’t even know if I got this info correct so if I got it wrong please let me know. It seems so odd that a throwaway character like Sophia got her own song. Anyways, this is another rock song. Whoever arranged the order of all these songs sucks because I’m kinda sick of listening to rock now. Not to mention that this is rather bland…Next.
8. Tensei
Seiyuu: Romi Paku
Character: Teresa
FINALLY. A BALLAD. And a good one to boot. I like the “acoustic orchestra” feel of the song and Romi Paku’s voice is unique in a good way. I guess it suits Teresa but I don’t like Teresa so that doesn’t really matter to me. This is a really nice refresher song. This is one of my favorites on the album.
9. Doukou
Seiyuu: Miki Nagasawa
Character: Helen
Well this was kind of a funky song. It definitely stands out from all the rock on this album. With a lot of unconvential instruments in the background and Miki Nagasawa rapping at some parts in the chorus (yes Helen raps now), this definitely stands out. This suits Helen and this song is another one of my favorites.
10. Gen’ei
Seiyuu: Kikuko Inoue
Character: Miria
We end with a very piano-centered ballad. It’s a decent song and it fits for the ending. I find the almost church-chorus-like background vocals interesting. Kikuko Inoue has a very good voice too. While it might be odd to picture Miria singing a church song (or singing nevertheless), it’s still suitable nevertheless. But man I feel sleepy now…
So overall it’s one of the better character song albums I’ve heard believe it or not. Well that’s because most of them suck anyways. I think a different song arrangement would be better (but you can just manually do it yourself on iTunes or whatever) and I wish they would get that Engrish rapping out of Clare’s and Galatea’s songs. This is a must-get for anyone who’s watched Claymore (and liked it) but even a casual listener might enjoy most of the tracks since this album is pretty strong. Now I’m gonna go cry on how BoA got powned by YUI on the Oricon Singles Chart.

October 5th, 2007 at 7:17 amkaei> I don’t like Teresa because she seemed like a total bitch to me. But that doesn’t matter if her song’s good :D.

October 5th, 2007 at 10:05 pm‘Eien’ by Sophia is actually one of my favorite tracks on this album . . . I find that her voice stands out more over some of the other rock songs. To each his/her own, I guess

October 8th, 2007 at 9:09 amOh well, I wasn’t really expecting the critique, anyone can do that. I was more interested in understanding the meaning of the lyrics of each song.

October 8th, 2007 at 10:14 amUnless I put “lyrics for Claymore Intimate Persona~Character Song Shuu~” on the title, there’s probably not going to be any lyrics here. And even if I had lyrics, I wouldn’t translate them because my Japanese is far from that level. I know anyone can critique but no one will have the exact same opinion for each song and that’s why I write this. I just wanted to give people an overview of the album and my thoughts. If you don’t like what I do, then get the hell out of here. You’re being extremely rude and insulting.

October 10th, 2007 at 2:25 amAmandia Liu I think you are the rude one :/ Anyway, good job on the article. It’s really sad that there are no lyrics (and translations ofc) but wth. I like Clare’s and Ohpelia’s songs most, Helen and Irene have very nice songs too.

October 10th, 2007 at 5:37 amKalinas> It’s one thing to be disappointed in not having lyrics or translations but I personally find it insulting if someone tells me that what I do “can be done by anyone” and is implying that what I do is useless and pointless, yes I do find that insulting. And I have a right to get pissed off if someone is insulting what I do and I have every right to give a piece of my mind. Also, this is not your business so please stay out of it.

October 10th, 2007 at 11:10 amWell, these are fun tracks to listen to in the car or just to kill time. I find that Clare’s song stands out the most :D, don’t know why, but it kinda does… probably because I like the character and the seiyuu. Eventually, someone will put up the lyrics on some site like they did with almost every other songs and albums that has been released world-wide. xD
On-topic: Great review, very personal like they should be, I agree with the “overuse of rock” part, since it feels like a big gap in the album.
[p.s] The comments are starting to bother me, although I don’t want to stick my nose in it, but it just bothers me. Don’t ask why, you know why when you look at them. –>(it makes me not want to comment at all) :\

October 11th, 2007 at 9:50 amI absolutely agree with Sharo, this description is incredulously disappointing, from my judgment even my cat can do this (Besides, his comment seemed pretty decent, it was only your responce that was rude.) Amanda Liu, your criticism is extremely poor and seriously inflated with your bitchy attitude. However, I would have benefitted more if you had provided the translation.
