Actually there isn’t that much to compare. Or not yet anyways. Besides the fact that there’s only been one episode, almost everything went from panel to panel. Except for these two things:
1. The nurse was a nun. Why’d they change that? It’s not that big of a deal but I can’t see why they couldn’t have just left it alone. This is airing in Japan not America. They’re not going to get sued because of aetheists.
2. The Zombie hunting trio are actually in the same class. In the manga, there originally was a scene where Michiru was as scared as hell because of the previous night’s events in the graveyard. It’s not that big of a deal right now and its easy just to show them in the same class later.
So as you can see. Not that many changes. Now that it’s out of the way, let me list the advantages for both the anime and manga. Oh and I’m comparing Episode 1 to the first half of the manga.

Manga:
1. Character Designs: They’re beautiful and look much better than the anime’s. Come on, that’s what PEACH-PITT is famous for. The two bishouen actually look like good unlike the anime.
2. Art: While I admit that the anime’s art isn’t that bad, it isn’t fabulous either. I noticed in many parts it looked inconsistent in many parts and the trees look like paper cutouts. Also, the color pages in Zombie loan weren’t all green either like the anime. Then again, that’s more of a personal preference.

Anime:
1. Pacing: 3 chapters in one episode? Wow. And it seems as if by next episode, we’ll be done by volume 1. While this rushed pace may be bad for some anime, it works for Zombie loan especially since the beginning content is really boring. I think I may have mentioned it before but I was half asleep for the first 4 chapters of the manga. As a contrast, I was fully awake and interested in the first episode.
2. Music: Okay so manga doesn’t have music but I’ve gotta list this on here. Despite the horrible OP song, everything else sounds fantastic. The innovative and original background music really brought the dull chapters to life. It normally takes me a while to notice background music but I noticed this right away.

The manga has better art and the anime is much more interesting. I don’t know about you guys but I favor interest level over art. Hence, the anime wins. Or at least for this episode. I’m not going to go through each episode with comparisons though since its pretty pointless. As a final note, this is my favorite out of the summer season so far.

July 18th, 2007 at 9:09 amI think the reason why they changed the whole nun thing is because eventually they might dub the anime and then it WILL air in America, and some people in America will get offended. Still it might affend people in Japan too, people in Asia can be nuns too you know. I don’t really care, but I’m just saying whats on my mind. Still a great anime though and the manga is great begging was REALLY boring but I think the art makes up for it. I have to say the anime is better.
