I watched this movie a couple of years ago but I watched it again just for the sake of writing this article. I bought this video from a friend but I didn’t have any idea what it was all about. Honestly, I just liked the title because it has the word ninja and I expect anime with ninjas to have good action and fighting scenes. Well, it turned out that this movie was far from what I was expecting but I still enjoyed watching it.

The movie is 50 minutes long. It is purely action. The setting looks like it took place in New York city but I’m not really sure as it wasn’t stated in the movie. But the scenes where they showed buildings of the place looked like it was in New York.

The main character in the story is Ryu. He’s called the Dragon Ninja. Ages ago, there was a fight between the Dragon gods and the Evil god. The Evil god lost and his power was sealed in a human being. Ryu’s job is to protect it and prevent anyone from getting that power because it was strong enough to wipe out man kind. The starting scene was Ryu fighting some masked men. He killed and searched them. He found an ID that led him to Ned Freeman’s lab. Ned Freeman is a biotechnology researcher who became famous after discovering a cure for cancer. But there was a rumor that Freeman was using humans for his experiments. Sara, who a friend of Irene (Ryu’s girlfriend) is a reporter assigned to write a story about Ned Freeman. Along with Robert and Jeff who were former military men who also work with Sarah, they crossed path with Ryu finding out the truth about Ned Freeman’s researches.

You can tell from the graphics and the music that this animated movie is already old. The characters were not very anime-looking except for Irene and Ned Freeman’s daughter. The language is Japanese and my copy had an English subtitle. The fighting scenes in this movie are OK. There’s a lot of blood and violence too. I didn’t like the story very much. I didn’t quite understand very well the thing about the Dragon seal and all those stuff. I would give this movie an average rating.
