In no particular order actually, but just a few series that I’ve been looking forward to or want to pick up. There seems to be some notable sequels this season!
1. Devil May Cry
I think most anime/video game junkies know this title and I’ve played Devil May Cry 3 for a bit until I gave up because it’s ridiculously hard. Dante reprises his role as the main protagonist in the show, which is good news. For anyone who’s interested, Toshiyuki Morikawa, who’s the seiyuu for Dante did Sephiroth in the FF VII Last Order ova, as well as in Advent Children. The director Shin Itagaki has directed Black Cat as one of his previous works. Some of the video game characters are also reprising with additional new characters. Already, various fansub groups have released promo/trailers so I imagine that if this isn’t licensed for NA release, at least a few groups would be fansubbing this. So far, it’s listed as having only 12 episodes. Madhouse is an excellent production company so I expect this one to be good.

2. Zero no Tsukaima 2nd Series
I never watched the first season but it was supposedly quite good from the various blogs that wrote about it. I think most people who’ve watched and liked the first season are looking forward to it. I’m not really a fan of semi-cutesy anime like this being more into the darker and violent shows but I may just start off with the first season someday (And who knows, it might actually be dark and violent - I wouldn’t know). I’ve read that this one has very good production values, with its production company being J.C. Staff which has done some recent shows such as Nodame Contabile, Ghost Hunt, Azumanga Daioh and Honey and Clover.

3. Mononoke
No…this doesn’t have anything to do with Studio Ghibli or Princess Mononoke. It’s actually a spin-off from a horror anime (or so people surmise) called Ayakashi ~ Japanese Classic Horror. I’ve also heard good things about Ayakashi (see a trend here? Sequels to good shows I’ve never watched). I believe the character is the medicine man from Ayakashi.

4. Tokyo Majin Season Two
I watched the first episode of the first season…I couldn’t stand it. Things happened way too fast, characters were killed off before anyone really knew them. I’m not a fan of abrupt random character comings and goings, another reason I dropped Kissdum. And the reason for that one, as rumoured was because it was thrown together at the last minute and nothing was thought out. However, regardless of my personal opinions, there are some fans who obviously must be looking forward to this.

5. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
Ah good old Higurashi. The first season was a very good horror anime series, once again that I haven’t watched yet but I’ve taken the account of some credible fans ^__^. I’m not certain if it’s a direct sequel or a remake (which doesn’t make sense?). I’ve heard that it’s aptly creepy so I’ll be sure to pick up the first season at least when I get a chance.

June 11th, 2007 at 6:27 amHigurashi will be a sequel. The original game consisted out of eight arcs. The first season animated the first six arcs, the second season is going to animate the final two arcs, plus one anime-original arc.

June 11th, 2007 at 7:06 amInteresting. The only one out of your list that interests me is Devil May Cry. I haven’t watched the first seasons for any of the others o.O.

June 11th, 2007 at 7:09 amYou go back right now and watch more Tokyo Majin, no really yeah the first episode is crazy and makes no sense because I believe that all happens later in the ‘time line’ in the next episodes it goes back and shows a lot more.

June 11th, 2007 at 7:40 pmI agree with Shadro and I should say that the following episodes are very unlike the first episode; it actually spends time on developing the story, characters and relationships with some action thrown in here and there. Much better than most generic shounen anime do. The second episode is the real introduction that went before the first.
BTW there are hardly any random characters, they all serve a purpose one way or another.
