Battle Programmer Shirase is a not well known series that came out in 2003 and it is one of those where if you were lucky enough to find it, there is a good chance you would like it.

The plot is not at all confusing, deep, or anything along those lines. It is about a rouge free programmer named Shirase. Now, by the ‘rouge free’ means he does not take jobs by payment of money. There are plenty of other things our pal Shirase will do work for, from a nice computer part to a life size anime girl blanket. Now, before you ask; yes he is skilled and he can do just about anything.

So the series is broken down into five three part episodes. Each with a different oddly looking same person asking for a job to be done and then him doing it. Although, these become some of the funniest parts in the series every time one of them enters. There is a suggestive theme between Shirase and his niece. So, yeah the series has a tad bit of ecchi, but only suggestively; no nudity or anything like that.

By reading this you basically have the idea of it, as I stated, nothing is deep; it is just a fun filled ride of humor and hacking action. Then, two things can be learned from this series: 1. Cell Phones are awesome for hacking 2. Tech schools are crazy. It even gives a shout out to fansubbers, which is sweet.

So yeah, this series is not and didn’t change the world of anime, nor was it a hit when it came out, but so what? The animation is meh, the music is catchy and all of that stuff but it is a solid and enjoyable series. And really what more is needed other than that?
