Bandai HGIF Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Junn Tan   April 27, 2007

Greetings! Samejima here, and this is my first post on Anime2Manga or Darren’s blog for short. I’m not really good at posting a review, but bear with me, here goes…

01.jpg

I bought this set of 4 figures from wasabitoys.com. I decided to purchase this gashapon out of my curiosity on how bandai sculpted their gashapon figures. This set is still lacking an original Haruhi Suzumiya, Yuki with glasses and Mikuru episode 00, Instead of original Haurhi, I got the ponytailed one or the other version where she had her hair ponytailed after been told by Kyon that he likes girls w/ ponytail.

Before I bought this gashapon, I didn’t really like how they looked, but out of the curiousity, I purchased a set of 4 which comes in random as long as the four featured characters were picked and it only cost me Php 600.00 (I wouldn’t mind having a slight increase of price as long as the set is complete, whatta waste).

Suzumiya Haruhi

The Haruhi figure comes with removable skirt. I don’t feel like putting pantsu shots.

Asahina Mikuru

05.jpg

Mikuru wearing maid uniform from episode 00. The other version of this mikuru had a blue eye just like episode 00 where she was trying to shoot laser to Yuki with her left eye (or right?) in the movie they made.

Nagato Yuki

07.jpg

Yuki Nagato wearing a swimsuit and holding a book. She’s got a specs on the other version.

Tsuruya-san

Tsuruya-san is the only character without other version in this gashapon.

All in all, I like how they were sculpted considering their sizes. It was such a waste not having other versions of the 3 characters.

Anyway, I hope you guys wouldn’t mind my shitty reviews in this blog as I am trying my best to put up a simple review (I’ll come up with a longer review next time). This is my first time posting a not-too-short of a review with my figure collections. Look forward to have another figure review next time.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!

    From my perspectives, they just look wierd. Might be the lighting, but it just feels…that something is amiss. Oh well, it does seem pretty detailed, and I have no eye for fashion/design to begin with.

    Great post, Jun! ^_^
    I wanted to edit it so it uses our standard image rendering but looks like it would be difficult. Anyway, it looks good as it is.

    @ Panzer Maiger
    They look wierd in photos. But not that bad in person.

    @Darren
    It’s not that great of a post but thanks anyway. What’s the standard image of this blog?

    @Jun
    Well, I posted something about using images in posts in our staff forum.

    They look a little odd to me and it seems that their heads are slightly out of proportion to their bodies. I don’t normally buy gashaphon or trading figures as a lot of them require the support pole to hold them up. Though if you wanted mini-figures you are probably better off buying the figuremate versions.

    Okay…

    @Adun
    Well… I admit they don’t look “that” good, applied to Haruhi and Mikuru. Yuki and Tsuruya-san were not that bad anyway. Yeah figumates Haruhi is great but the hobby shop here where I buy my figures don’t have them till now…

    The ponytail on Haruhi is a nice touch; if you’ve seen the anime before, you know she only did that once (and why) ^^

    It is on the episode where Kyon and Haruhi shared the same dream and Kyon telling her that ponytails turns him on.

    Thanks for doing a review, albeit a short one, on these gashapon figures. I’ve been looking around to see if anyone had some sort of review or pics of them and finally found this. I’m still having mixed feelings about these. I want to get Set 3, but don’t know if I should

    Some of the figures don’t look great, but I like the line, since they’re in different clothing like on the show. Particularly looking forward to Sagitarius Yuki (in Set 3). ^_^

    Also a suggestion.. Next time, can you make the pics bigger (the size of the last image is good).

    Try CatalogCourt.net Entertainment link for Max Factory Anime/Manga Statues (they usually come in sets of 6) and the episodes you have been trying to get might be found at CatalogCourt.net, just link up to the big “O”.
